Take a fresh look at healthy foods

I recently read Matt Golulding and David Zinczenko’s “Eat This Not That”: A Restaurant Survival Guide. It is a wonderful book. However, I must admit that the selections on “Not That” sometimes looked too good to be true. It tastes delicious, which is why so many people eat unhealthy food. It is understandable that some people aren’t as interested in healthier choices. It doesn’t have to be like this! It is possible to change your perspective on healthy food and see it in a different light. Enjoy healthy, high-quality foods by adopting a positive food attitude.

Everyone should be educated about nutrition. Parents, it is your responsibility to teach your children good nutrition. Remember that children learn more by watching you eat and eating than from what you tell them. Healthy eating is the best way for your children to learn.

Next, commit to eating healthy food. You will notice that I don’t just mean to eat healthy food, but also to enjoy healthy foods. There are many options for lower-fat foods, including foods that have less sugar, salt and white flour. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available. Lower fat cuts of meat are available. Zinczenko’s “Eat This” series offers healthier options at your favorite restaurant.

How do you do it? Your focus is key. Instead of focusing on what you might miss when you choose healthier foods, think about the positive aspects. Healthy foods are desirable food that fuels your body and helps you perform at your best. Only eat the foods that help you reach your goals. You should be proud of your choice for healthy foods. Don’t eat those that only satisfy your tastebuds and add weight to your waistline. You should be focusing on the freshness and taste of healthy food. They may be different in taste, but they still taste great.

It is possible to train your body towards healthier food choices. After a while you will be more inclined to choose healthier foods. You may still crave the other foods from time to time, but you’ll soon realize that you are more likely to feel better if you choose healthier foods. Keep that in mind the next time you feel the urge to snack again. Is this a sign that you should not eat certain foods? No! No! That’s all. It’s okay to have small amounts every once in awhile. You’ll be less likely to crave salty and fat-laden foods if you eat healthier.
